Banner year highlighted by record revenues and open source downloads, new partners

BELLEVUE, Wash. – January 11, 2011 – Likewise, an expert in helping companies integrate Linux, Unix and Mac OS X systems with Microsoft Active Directory, turned in a record year -- growing sales 300 percent since 2008, and increasing the number of organizations that use its software platform to more than 90,000 worldwide.

Recent commercial wins at TIAA-CREF , the Federal Reserve Board, Macy’s, Boeing, Zion’s Bank, Department of Homeland Security, Snap-On Tools and the State of Alaska add to a growing list of customers in all industries, including General Electric, Maersk, Morgan Stanley, NBC-Universal and Disney. Likewise also expanded its OEM partnerships in 2010, adding HP for its StorageWorks products and VMware for integration of Likewise's Active Directory authentication engine into VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 4.1 and later. Likewise is the only supplier of Active Directory bridge technology to support VMware vSphere Hypervisor.

The company was ranked among the top 25 in The VAR Guy’s Open Source 50 report and was named to CRN’s 2010 Emerging Vendors List.

“2010 was another great year for Likewise in terms of sales growth, customer acquisition, OEM deals and worldwide adoption of Likewise Open," said Barry Crist, CEO, Likewise. “The fact that Likewise has continued to expand at such a high rate over the past three years is a testament to our community, partnerships and the strength of our platform.”

In October 2010, Likewise Open was made available for the latest Ubuntu 10.10 software. Likewise was first to announce support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and RHEV, giving system administrators the ability to immediately integrate Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 users and Red Hat’s hypervisors into their current Active Directory infrastructure.

Software introductions included Likewise Enterprise 6 and Likewise Open 6, which added major performance improvements, smart card support and a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) command-line interface (CLI) administration tool for Linux, Unix and Mac OS. Most recently, support for SAP NetWeaver and SAPgui was added – providing single sign-on capability for Likewise customers using SAP.

In an independently published report by The 451 Group, analysts Jay Lyman and Steve Coplan state, “Likewise has more closely aligned itself with the Linux push into the enterprise, and providing the ability to manage Linux systems as first class citizens within AD – setting it apart in the [identity-joining] space.”

During the past year, Likewise added Robin Rudd as vice president of engineering and Ken Cheney as vice president of business development. Robin has more than 15 years of software development experience and holds six patents with another 10 patents pending. Ken brings 15 years experience at HP, Network Associates, Computer Associates and several start-ups.
