Likewise Enterprise integrates Workgroup Manager for Mac to Active Directory (AD) and enables MCX settings to be saved as standard AD Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and without modifying existing Active Directory schema, even if you are using a schema that does not comply with RFC 2307. Likewise Enterprise empowers IT administrators to apply MCX to Macs in the same way as GPOs are used to apply settings to Linux, Unix and Windows computers. In addition, enterprises with Macs do not have to add additional infrastructure such as an Open Directory server, reducing the hardware and management cost associated with it. Likewise Enterprise enables IT administrators to provide various group policies for Linux, Mac OS X and Unix desktops and servers including Monitor Sudoers File, Prepend Domain Name for AD Users and Groups, Denied Logon Rights Message, Set the Computer Group Policy Refresh Interval, Set the User Group Policy Refresh Interval, Specify the User Policy Loopback Processing Mode, Set DNS Servers and Search Domains, and energy-saver policies for Mac OS X computers.

Non-Windows systems can be authenticated by Likewise Identity Services against AD to allow these systems to function effectively in a network that controlled by AD.
