LIKEWISE OPEN 5.3 RELEASE NOTES ==================================================== *IMPORTANT: Before you install Likewise Open, read the instructions in the Likewise Open Installation and Administration Guide at http://www.likewisesoftware.com/resources/documentation_library/ The guide contains important information about requirements, patches, installation options, configurations, UID-GID management, and troubleshooting. ==================================================== Mac OS X -------- On Leopard, changing a domain user's password from the command line passwd utility will not work. This is a known issue. The password can be successfully changed from the System Preferences->Accounts dialog box->Change Password utility. -------- When you are logged in as a domain user, you will not be able to su to root. Instead, ssh into the root account. ==================================================== Red Hat Enterprise Linux RHEL 2.1 ---------------------------------- Issue: Error occurring while logging onto system with Likewise software for Active Directory account logon. Reason: The older system provided PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module) pam_krb5.so segmentation faults (crashes) on the RHEL2.1 platform. This module is provided by RedHat and is not a part of the Likewise software installation. Workaround: This crash is triggered because Likewise software configures the Kerberos keytab file and krb5.conf file during domain join operations. Likewise does not enable this module, and does not require it. The system admin of the system can edit the PAM configuration files and remove the references to this module by commenting out the entries in: /etc/pam.d/system-auth #%PAM-1.0 # This file is auto-generated. # User changes will be destroyed the next time authconfig is run. auth required /lib/security/pam_env.so auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_unix.so likeauth nullok #auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_krb5.so use_first_pass auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_ldap.so use_first_pass auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_smb_auth.so use_first_pass nolocal auth required /lib/security/pam_deny.so ==================================================== For more information, contact info@likewise.com or visit www.likewise.com. © 2009 Likewise Software.
